NEW ASSOCIATE
TRAINING |
 |
We have inaugurated a brand new service at the Law Library. Beginning this September, we will be offering “New Associate Training” for your new hires. Over the course of approximately 3 hours, your associates will participate in an intensive program designed to familiarize them with many of the key legal print and electronic research tools available with a Library membership, as well as many Internet resources which they can access for free. We will gladly customize our sessions to meet the particular needs of your practice and provide specialized training on databases that will enhance your ability to serve your clients. Currently, we have scheduled this training for September 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, and 9, but we can accommodate alternative dates as necessary. If you are interested in signing up your new associates, please contact the Director at 216-861-5070 or ksasala@clelaw.lib.oh.us.

CLEVELAND’S CODIFIED ORDINANCES
AND CITY RECORD ARE ONLINE |
 |
Yes, the Cleveland Codified Ordinances and City Record (the official record of City Council proceedings) are finally online. In June of this year, the Clerk of Cleveland’s City Council published a new print version of the Ordinances and posted both the Ordinances and City Record on the Internet. The Ordinances employ a basic search engine, and individual issues of the Record are posted in separate pdf files by date. Here are the URLs for both of the sites:
For those of you who still like to use and browse the print version of the Ordinances, we purchased a new volume for our collection that can be used at the Library.

HOW ‘BOUT
A LAUGH? |
 |
A junior partner in a law firm was sent to a far away country to represent a long-term client accused of robbery. After days of trial, the case was won, the client acquitted and released.
Excited about his success, the attorney e-mailed the firm: "Justice prevailed." The senior partner replied in haste, "Appeal immediately."

GALE GROUP PULLS REMOTE
ACCESS TO LEGALTRAC |
 |
We are sorry to report that Law Library members are no longer able to access LegalTrac from our "Members-Only" page on the Internet. The Gale Group, which provides our LegalTrac subscription, will no longer allow its users to access this resource remotely. However, we still have a license to use LegalTrac in-house here at the Library. As a result, you can still come to the Library to search for legal periodical articles related to your research. As an alternative, we can run LegalTrac searches and send you your results by fax, email, or regular mail.
